So, Ross, are you saying the blog is not worth checking for me?

Thursday, July 24, 2003

I think you two (Ross and Mike) are the only two checking this thing (besides me, of course). I was telling everyone in class (at my house, on Wednesday) that I had received an email from Kohl Glass telling me about the screening of The Promethean at the Comic Con. It was funny to hear the same story from two points of view.

Fall semester is coming much too quickly. I have to begin preparing mentally. Hope you guys are up for it, too.

Nice job on the storyboards guys. I think this really helps everyone get nice visuals in their heads. Looking at these got me pumped up to shoot the scene with the teenage girls.

Casting Call and Storyboards

Casting Call on Saturday went well. We got two excellent candidates for the film. One for Bill and one for Marty. They're available for the days of the shoot and they can work within our budget. We still need to find the parents who receive the girl and the group of three teen girls. Let us know if you have any ideas.

Storyboards were submitted today. I generated an animated GIF and a quicktime movie.

Animated GIF will run by itself.
One image per second, scene breaks are two seconds long.
Quicktime is quicker.
You can PAUSE the movie and use the
keyboard arrows to move forward frame-by-frame.

Hi, back from my trip, and it was great. I have some video but my camera stopped working. It was really windy and dusty so I am getting it repaired. Anyway, I will be at class on Monday.

Cyndy, thanks again for sharing your thoughts on the title, etc. Josh and I have some good ideas for adapting your words into strong visuals to represent Bill's change towards the end of the movie.
Good job on the bus depot Mike. I will be checking it out in person to come up with some shots. Thanks.
Jared called me and said the back up location is open for us to use. I also talked to Neal about his Hudson House. He is almost positive we can use it to set up on Fri. 18th and film Sat. 19th. He is going to confirm these dates today after he talks to his builder(he is doing some additions to the house). I had a meeting last night with Josh, Scott, and Thanh and we developed some really good ideas on how to shoot the movie.

I'd love to watch Anatomy of a Scene, especially something shot on DV. If anyone would like to take over Mike's job that would be a big help to the group. If nobody wants to do it, Nazi Cyndi will get pissed and make someone do it.

Hi, going to Farmington New Mexico to the Rock Krawling Finals. I am going to photograph and film the event. Should be fun, and I will be gone until July 10th. So I won't be coming into class.
YeeeHaaaww.

SCHEDULE CHANGE FOR NEXT WEEK
I'm going to start class at 6pm next week (in the hopes of finishing a bit earlier AND talking to you about new material when you're fresh). AfterEffects lecture is from 6 until about 7:30 next week. Then, presentation of storyboards and continued development of the project. Maybe more Project Greenlight (depends on what this episode holds). If you're interested, you can learn more about Project Greenlight.
GUAU (that's wow in Mexico)! We really made some progress last night! There has been some terrific thinking and project development going on in the last week.
Peter, Kate and Cindy have done some nice character development in terms of color and environment. Scott T. got a terrific store location. Josh (I heard via Nick) did some nice thinking about shots. Thanhung and Scott made good headway on the storyboards (about halfway through, we should be able to see the whole story next week). Excellent, excellent progress.
